Columbus Day Mathos controversy

Controversy erupts on Federal Hill as LT. Governor Sabina Mathos was a last minute stand-in for the ailing Governor Dan McKee. Mathos refuse to call it Columbus Day and did nothing to protect the Columbus statue in Providence during the summer of 2020. Mathos was booed along the parade route on the Hill. Mathos is refusing to  do a TV debate before the November election, after her performance in the CH 12 debate where she struggled at times to fully understand the questions. LT Governor Matos has acknowledged English is not her first language and often gives confusing answers in press briefings and interviews in real time. Matos supported efforts to Defund the Police when on the Providence city council. If elected, Matos would be next in line as Governor.
