Statement from Attorney Tim Dodd on behalf of John DePetro.
John DePetro was violently attacked on August 17, 2022 by Mark Perkins. This resulted in a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges against Perkins.
John is an independent journalist and media figure who was exercising his constitutionally protected rights, was not on Perkins property and certainly did not instigate the assault upon him by Mr. Perkins.
Mr. DePetro was knocked to the ground, repeatedly punched, had his smart phone and recording equipment maliciously smashed by Perkins, and was assaulted by Perkins with a running motorized lawn mower.
There are independent witnesses to the above, who are expected to testify should this case proceed to trial.
Likewise, there is graphic video evidence of Mr. Perkins outrageous criminal conduct.
John DePetro is slowly recovering from his injuries, and looks forward to resuming his reporting duties, while conforming his conduct to current legal requirements
