It has been one year since Miya D. Brophy-Baermann of Warwick was murdered on Olney street on Providence, in what police described as a drive-by mistaken identity gang shooting. Miya was being walked to her car by a friend when a car rolled by and shot her without warning. There had been no fight or altercation, there was no robbery and Miya had no gang ties. Miya had just received her Masters degree from Northeastern in speech pathology and was a cherished child, friend and sibling. Her murder remains unsolved however there is a reward of $100,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
