Earlier today, September 18, 2024, Providence Police Detectives charged Nelson Pires, DOB 4/6/97, with two counts of child endangerment and driving on a suspended license. Pires is the father of Ny’Eil Pires, age 7, who was the victim of a recent homicide.

“Our primary responsibility as police officers is to ensure the safety of all individuals, especially vulnerable children who cannot protect themselves,” said Colonel Perez. “The charges brought forth reflect our commitment to upholding the law and holding individuals accountable when their actions put others at risk. We take these matters very seriously and will continue to work with the RI Attorney General’s Office to ensure that justice is served.”
