Controversy erupts as the girlfriend of PC basketball player Alyn Breed recants her charges of robbery with a handgun which led Breed to be locked up all weekend and remain in Providence police custody. Sources at PC and with Breed question why the shooting guard was locked up when police could not find a handgun. Police sources claim their hands were tied and had to follow proper protocol regarding a domestic incident with the threat of a weapon. What if they did not lock up Breed on Saturday morning and he ended up shooting his 33-yr old girlfriend who moved to Providence from the west coast? Off the record, PC blames a police department who was trying to embarrass a PC player from a school who has constant run-ins with police regarding off-campus parties. Police (off record) said both Breed and his girlfriend were extremely under the influence (at 5:30 AM) and question if the school was aware they have a player who carries a pistol. Breed was reportedly acting odd with police who were put in an awkward situation. In typical RI court fashion, the girlfriend was given a private audience with the judge so she could recant her prior complaint. Where is the tan pistol?
