From an eyewitness: “I was at Cumberland Farms across the street. Just finished making my coffee and got in my car. Was sitting there for a minute took a couple of sips of my coffee and I heard a loud crash. Saw two other people in front of my car started looking curiously across the street, I got out of my car and they said,” hey did you hear that too?” I said yes, we all thought it sounded like a car accident, so we walked across the Cumberland Farms parking lot towards the mall to look down by the traffic light there was no accident down by the traffic light. We turn towards the mall we saw the brake lights and the lights of the car first look like it went up on the median and hit a tree or something possibly another car. After looking around for a moment, we noticed two people running from the scene towards the Macy’s entrance watched them run around the mall and across the parking lot. The two gentlemen who also heard the accident said, “we’re going to go over there and make sure everybody’s OK.” I also got in my car and followed the two suspected people; they stopped running once they got on Oakland Avenue and started walking down past Ross Simmons, Christy liquors, Dunkin’ Donuts lemonade, while I was following them. I was also on a 911 call with Warwick, I wanted to stay a reasonable distance reasonable away from them. One suspect had white shoes, shorts, gray shirt. The other suspect had gray, white shoes, black pants with a ripping knee dark shirt describe them perfectly to the 911. Police we on the way by then, so I returned to the scene and noticed that they had crashed into the ATM, which was scattered in pieces all over the parking lot as you saw. I told police I was the one that called and described the two people that fled the scene told him exactly where they were where they walked. The police officers they asked if I would mind doing a what they called right along identification, and I said OK, they placed me in the back of the police car. They explained to me that no one was going be able to see me the windows tinted. They were going to pull up to the scene where they apprehended the suspect they were going to pull each suspect out, stand next to the car and we were going to pass by slowly and he needed me to identify them, which identified the suspect 100%, then he radio to another police officer where ready for the second suspect they pulled the second suspect from the back of the police car stood him next to the car. We slowly drove by the second suspect, which identified 100% as the suspects who fled the scene, they brought me back to the scene where I was met by another police officer.”
