Who killed Nayasia in Central Falls?

Nayasia Gonzalez

Almost one week since the Central Falls shooting and death of nineteen-year-old Nayasia Gonzalez of Pawtucket, with still no suspect in custody while police continue the manhunt for the shooter. Police have not provided any update on the nineteen-year-old male who was also shot and in critical condition, nor any update on the homicide investigation itself. A source close to the investigation claims police believe they know who they are looking for but are still piecing together the series of events that led to the tragic shooting, possibly stymied by certain individuals less than cooperative with police. A police source confirms Nayasia was an innocent bystander and not the target of the shooting. The family of Nayasia posted this message:

Honoring Nayasia. Supporting Her Legacy. Standing with Her Family.

On Saturday, our community suffered an unimaginable loss. Nayasia, just 19 years old, was taken from us far too soon in a tragic act of violence. She was an innocent bystander. Nayasia was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. Her family is now navigating a kind of pain no parent should ever endure. Many in the community have asked how they can support and surround the family with love during this time. In response, this fund has been created to honor Nayasia’s memory and fund a future scholarship in her name—a beacon of light that will help keep her spirit alive. Nayasia’s mother will also work to push for legislation to hold those who harm innocent bystanders fully accountable under the law.
Your prayers, kindness, and generosity will help the family carry Nayasia’s light forward. Thank you for keeping Nayasia and her family close in your hearts. May her memory be a blessing, and may we honor her by fighting for a safer, more loving community for all. #JusticeForNy
