The Providence Police Department has arrested 36-year-old Khivory Alston of Providence in connection with a multi-year, multi-jurisdiction robbery spree affecting businesses across Providence, Cranston, Pawtucket, Woonsocket, and Johnston. Alston was taken into custody on December 2, 2025, following a coordinated investigation involving numerous law-enforcement agencies.
During interviews with Providence Police Detectives Melaragno and Pine, Alston provided a full confession, admitting responsibility for 18 robberies or attempted robberies—including 8 in Providence, 6 in Cranston, 2 in Pawtucket, 1 in Woonsocket, and 1 in Johnston. He further stated that he had used a “BB gun” during several of the incidents.
Detectives from all affected jurisdictions responded to Providence Police Headquarters to conduct follow-up interviews. Providence Police will continue coordinating interagency efforts as these cases proceed.
“I commend the dedication and collaboration of detectives from Providence, Cranston, Johnston, Pawtucket, and Woonsocket that led to this arrest,” said Colonel Oscar L. Perez Jr. The coordinated investigative efforts, rapid information-sharing, and detailed video analysis played a significant role in bringing this multi-jurisdiction crime spree to an end.”
Johnston
At approximately 5:30 AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, officers from the Johnston
Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at the Cumberland Farms located at
663 Killingly Street. Upon arrival, officers met with store employees and began gathering
information and reviewing video surveillance.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, a male dressed entirely in black, wearing a hooded
sweatshirt and a black ski mask, entered the store and approached the counter. He kept one hand
inside his pants pocket, implying he was armed, and told the clerk, “Open the drawer or I will
shoot.”
The suspect then jumped over the counter, removed cash from the register, and fled the store on
foot. A total of $426 was reportedly taken. No firearm was displayed, and fortunately, no one
was injured.
During the course of the investigation, Johnston Police detectives learned that the Providence
Police Department and the Cranston Police Department were actively investigating a series of
similar armed robberies that occurred in their cities. Detectives from Johnston immediately
began working closely with Providence and Cranston investigators, comparing information,
examining surveillance footage, and analyzing similarities between the incidents in each incident.
