
Juvenile Arrested Following Assault on Special Needs Student
**Follow-up**
The Newport Police Department is providing an update on the ongoing investigation into the
assault of a special needs student from Rogers High School. The department is committed to
ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and members of our community.
Investigation Update:
• Initial Arrest: On Friday, November 21, 2025, Newport Police arrested a 16-year-old
male Rogers High School student. Through the course of the investigation, it was
determined the suspect assaulted the victim on two separate occasions.
o Charges: The individual was charged with two counts of felony assault on persons
with severe impairments.
• Second Arrest: Following continued investigation, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, a
second 16-year-old male Rogers High School student was arrested and charged with
assault against the same victim.
• Third Arrest: As this investigation has been progressing, today, November 24, 2025, a
17-year-old male Rogers High School student was arrested and charged with assault
against the same victim.
• Forth Arrest: Also today, November 24, 2025, a 14-year-old male Rogers High School
student was arrested and charged with assault against the same victim.
