video: Venezuelan gang members arrested at Providence Place mall

On April 7, 2025 at approximately 15:45hrs Detectives from the Investigative Bureau’s Major Crimes unit were called upon to assist patrol units with a larceny investigation. The following is a brief synopsis of the investigation:

A pass-through bulletin from the RI Fusion Center was disseminated in regards to an active Cranston Police Department investigation into a series of retail thefts within their city. The bulletin included a vehicle of interest as well as several suspects who were responsible for the thefts. Cranston Police alerted Providence Police that the vehicle may be in Providence. These individuals are alleged to be responsible for retail thefts across multiple states (RI, CT, MA). At approximately 15:35hrs patrol officers K. Ludovici and A. Mitura observed the suspect vehicle in the area of the Providence Place Mall at which time they observed the vehicle stop in the middle of the road while two male subjects ran from the mall and entered the vehicle. They subsequently halted the vehicle at One Avenue of the Arts.

Four males ages 20-22, were arrested and will be charged with shoplifting, Possession of implements of concealment while shoplifting, Possession of stolen goods and conspiracy.

Investigation is ongoing. Suspects are expected to be arraigned later today.

A large amount of suspected stolen merchandise was located in their vehicle and the origins of that merchandise is part of the ongoing investigation.

Agencies in Ma. and Ct. are also listing the individuals as suspects in thefts in their jurisdiction and that is under investigation as well.
