A game between Empire real estate group and Centerdale revival (in the age group of 5-7 instructional) in the North Providence Youth Basketball Association had to be stopped after a parent began trying to fight a coach. According to a league source, two of the coaches of the opposing teams began arguing. One of the coaches was physically much bigger than the other coach, and it got heated. A parent stepped in to try and defuse the situation, but it continued. After things seemed to calm down, things flared up again and onto the court between a parent and one of the coaches. At that point, the game was called. Children were crying, parents screaming, and police were called. There are accusations punches were thrown. Story is developing. Video shows end of the game. No child was injured and no arrest according to North Providence police. Police say the parties involved were not interested in press charges. Update: Three adults charged with disorderly conduct, two coaches and a parent.
