Freddie in command on the stand

March 4,2009. A day that will go down in history as Freddie Bishop takes the stand in his own defense. The man who served 33 years behind bars and ran the south wing of the prison says he was a victim the night of June 28,2007 at 43 Warwick Lake avenue.
Bishop claims he was led into the house that night by strangers and ambushed. |
The man known as "the hitman" says three men forced a ski mask over his face and beat him with a golf club. Bishop says the gun went off in a violent struggle that led to two wounded and Gabe Medeiros shot dead. Bishop was on the stand for 3 hours and displayed his tough style. |
Prosecutor Paul Daly tried to mock the 66 year old gangster legend by smirking at his story. Several members of the jury were seen laughing at the man who ran the ACI like a mob boss. Bishop claimed he was led ino the house and had no gun. He was attacked but would not call the police or a doctor. |

Governor Caprio?

A new poll released shows Gen Treas. Frank Caprio jumps out with a commanding lead in the race for Governor 2010. Caprio has raised over $1 million and this poll could make it $2 million pretty quickly. The poll shows Caprio ahead of other democrats among Dems, Independents and Republicans. |
The poll shows Attorney General Patrick Lynch barely holding on in second place and he is lagging in raising money. The Lt. Gov. Liz Roberts arrives with a liberal 3rd place and Mayor David "bad check" Cicilline wakes up in fourth place. One big question is what impact Linc Chafee would have running as a third party Independent if he runs. |
On the GOP side, it is Laffey with a strong lead over Joe Trillo. Trillo should not rule out running for a statewide office, but maybe not Governor this time. Where is Charlie Fogarty in all of this? Do not rule out Roberts. Myrth Yorke won the 1994,1998 and 2002 Democrat primaries and a liberal could do it again. |
Will the 2010 race come down to Caprio, Chafee and Laffey? |
